ASUS N56VM Driver Download, and Reviews– The advent of third-generation Intel Core “Ivy Bridge”, we can expect to see lower prices and attractive discounts on systems with processors second generation “Sandy Bridge”. This is bad. You’ll need an Ivy Bridge laptop anyway. The first laptop we’ve seen to show a new mobile processor is the Asus N56VM a 15.6-inch desktop replacement. The chip is the Core i7-3720QM, a quad-core 2.6 GHz processor and eight threads with 6MB of cache. The laptop also comes with a full 1080p display (1920 by 1080) and two graphics solutions, the new integrated graphics Intel HD Graphics 4000 CPU and Nvidia GeForce GT 630M, low-cost GPU. No graphics solutions are at the raw speed of the Core i7-3720QM, which makes the performance N56VM a little uneven, but overall the new processor makes a powerful entrance, while the laptop reveals a desirable.

In the press, Asus said the N56VM would initially be available in Europe and Asia. The first configuration sold in North America will be slightly different N56VZ-DS71, which will feature a Core i7-3610QM 2.3GHz processor, NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M, a backlit keyboard and Windows 7 Home Premium instead of Win 7 Professional our unit test.

1.1 by 15 by 10 inches (HWD), the N56VM is a bit heavy (5.9 pounds) solid slab with a beautiful dark gray, almost black brushed aluminum cover with light-up logo Asus. Open, its black keys and keyboard aluminum silver make it seem like a MacBook Pro, but with tea instead of optical drive slot-loading. The background is black plastic.

The chiclet-style keyboard has a soft feel and need, we found quite comfortable to type at speed. As in many portable 15.6-inch computers, it offers a keypad whose keys (such as dedicated keys Home, End, Page Up and Page Down) are a little thinner or smaller than normal keys. Two function keys supposedly govern the brightness of the backlight of the keyboard, but could not detect a backlight to ambient light Labs. There is a large touchpad (4.5 inches by 2.75 inches) with clickable lower corners instead of actual mouse buttons; Move, touch gestures and pinch-to-zoom and three-finger flick worked smoothly in our tests.

The resolution of 1,920 by 1,080 screen makes text and some small icons (toggle between the views 100 and 125 percent through the Control Panel), but clear. The display is clear and bright with vivid colors and wide viewing angles (more horizontally than vertically). Two speakers Bang & Olufsen ICEpower provide superior audio average if not high.
